  • frustrating sleep

    two similar dreams:
this takes place about two weeks ago:
i am in the front room of the house; all the blinds are pulled aside and afternoon sunlight is streaming in, casting rays all over the scattered paper on the floor.  my older sister had just finished with a scrapbooking party and all the guests had left.  i was the only one in the room when a middle-aged man in a wheelchair comes to my porch.  i recognized him as one of my sister's guests.  when i answer the door he kindly asks if he can come in; he left something behind and had come to retrieve it.  i open the door and a few seconds after he had entered i regretted it.  my instincts told me that this man was not safe and i had just let him into my house, where i was completely alone.  for some reason i knew that his exact plan was to rape me.  my mind racing, i soon realized that this man actually wasn't a guest.  i had simply been fooled by his strangely friendly face and the sympathy that his handicap had invoked.  once in the center of the room, he stood up.  seeing that he was perfectly able to walk, and i knew my chances for escape had deeply declined.  knowing that he would reach me if i went through the front door, i quickly headed to the back.  my house grew darker the further i went, and the man began to grow younger.  faster.  i knew he was catching up.  right when i knew that i was defeated, i woke up.
when i woke up from this one my heart was going CRAZY.  a slow and heavy beat as if my blood was the consistency of honey.

    and last night:
i was at a campground and i was with my little sister.  we were looking around the site and we happened upon a little gift shop.  we went in to check it out and there was no one in there.  knowing that it was public, we went in anyways.  after a few moments of browsing, the mood of the airy, pleasantly-lit space became paralyzingly threatening when a man walked in.  the look in his eyes interrupted all my thoughts and i suddenly knew he was going to attack.  there was only one door in the room and he stood in front of it, staring at me and my sister.  the only thing between us was a short island of book shelves.  as a child we have all played the game of tag and ended up running in circles around a large object, having to time our running in order to catch the other person.  i knew that he could easily catch either my sister or myself due to the small space of the shop. he began to chase after my sister, so i took off seeing that he had left the door unguarded.  we were safe, out in the public.  with the image of his face and crooked smile in my mind, i knew that the presence of other people as possible witnesses was not going to be enough.  we ran down a hill, and i headed toward the water.  there was a group of kids in uniformed camp sweaters learning how to climb on a steep, rocky wall extending into the lake.  i jumped in, and my sister followed.  i figured if we somehow switched sweaters with some of the kids then the man would easily overlook us.  i grabbed a rope, and began climbing toward one of the girls.  she was bald, possibly a cancer patient.  she began conversing with me about how hard it was to climb.  in a frantic, i was about to interrupt her when another sound caught my attention.  the man had reached the waterside, spotted us, and had just dived in.  it was right then that i knew we no longer had control over what happened next.  it was at this time that i woke up.

    actually a third one:
    two/three weeks ago
the apartment that i currently live in is the same one in my dream, but also different.  it is in the city in a tall skyscraper.  i don't have roommates, and i am in the process of moving out.  the realtor that was managing my property had just shown my apartment to a couple right before i am returning to the place.  the dream starts when i am returning.  i walk in through the door, and for some reason, the electricity is not working.  once i flicked the switch, i knew right away that this is my fault.  i gave the realtor, a middle-aged man, a copy of my key so he could show the place to the interested buyers.  i knew that the electricity was his doing and all of a sudden i knew that this was part of a plan.  he was going to take advantage of me in the near moments so i began to gather important things; i grabbed my laptop, a bag, and a few pairs of clothes.  right when i was turning to leave, i heard a sound downstairs.  i had no way out.  right at this moment, i remembered to pray.  the moment i realized that god had the power to save me, the electricity turned on.  i was safe.  the most frustrating thing is that when i woke up from this dream, i didn't actually wake up but i found myself in the same situation.  i had the dream three times in a row, and i finally woke up to reality.

the first two, i dont get it.
    the last one, i get.
maybe the point of the first two was to reinforce the message of the third
hm thats about one per week

  • These Marketers Would Use ANYTHING!

You never know when some viral urban campaign would come around the corner and whack you with some bizarre message.

More interesting ones may even capture your thoughts long after the first visual shock subsides. More often than not, it's just a smart product placement / promotion, but in some cases - truly subversive and genuine urban art.

Streets in Portugal seem to be the most often visited by creative mayhem:
(once you approach these stabbed victims, they will hand you a promo flyer...)

Using shocking faux-death scenes is getting to be quite popular:

Go on, make your usual grocery trip. You may encounter some sights you did not bargain for -

On the street: Begging Sculptures. "My Cathedral Needs Your Help" -

Turning the whole street into a blue river:

    Inside the elevator:

    On a street corner:

    At the supermarket:

    Check out this tongue-in-cheek packaging:

    In the washroom:

    In the swimming pool:

    At the train station:

    In the tunnels:

    At the bus stop:

In your local park - protesting hippies stuck forever, due to a certain lock:

In your kitchen (ingenious ice tray) -

At some Asian restaurant ("Can't hate everything"):

At your local pub - Balancing three pints of Guinness as part of a marketing trick:

Famous Banksy can use literally any part of street landscape to make his point:

Can't get enough of this marketing campaign... really makes you stop in your tracks and re-consider what you're place in life is, what your job situation is like, and how you're infinitely better off than these poor unfortunate souls (even if your boss is a psychopath).

Here is one location that we did not feature before: an soft ice cream machine -

Similar approach: totally freaky vending machine... Get Your Own Goat!!

And a priceless idea - An Anger-Release Vending Machine:

Cool use of a spare wheel:

Great play on your traffic woes:

Old and boring billboards can be greatly enhanced, when designers start using other elements of urban environment :

    Using raised bridges:

    Using weird building profile:

    Using the power of wind:

    Using old building's corner:

A case of billboard ad gone hilariously wrong, obviously in haste of preparation for Olympics -
(somebody used Goggle translation engine, not checking for the language nuances - "World" and "Peace" are the same words in Russian)

    More of the same:

Finally, radically different kind of banner - a subliminal one:

All these ad masterpieces are infinitely removed from the kind we saw in the 70s and 80s:
(although these too have some charm, of a different kind)

Even more charming... 1940s recycling ad -
